Good things come in small packages and no one experienced that more first hand than Lewis and Clark in 1804 when they met a Shoshone woman (standing at 5 ft tall!) by the name of Sacagawea.

Even though she was pregnant with her first child, Sacagawea trekked thousands of miles for two years to aid Lewis and Clark on their expedition to explore the Louisiana Purchase. At the end of their journey they had endured starvation, cold and war. So high was the esteem that the men had for Sacagawea that Clark even adopted her two children after her death in 1811.
